Fern Canyon has long been a favorite of the local population. As California's Redwood Coast's premiere showplace, it gained international noteriety when it served as a set for the movie "Jurassic Park."

While enjoying the reputation as one of the California's most beautiful treasures, Fern Canyon is still under-visited and is a favorite of FunBus Passengers. Drivers of vehicles greater than 24 feet in length are prohibited from driving the narrow route and others are dissuaded by the seven-miles of gravel road to Gold Bluffs Beach and Fern Canyon.

A clear coastal stream wanders between the canyon’s 150 foot walls of fern tapestries kept lush by a myriad of micro waterfalls. Our walk includes a half mile into, then out of the canyon on an easy trail, crossing "Home Creek" a dozen times over wooden bridges. Restrooms are available at our parking location.
